Jeffrey Wilson is a clinician-investigator and Assistant Professor in the Division of Allergy and Immunology at the University of Virginia. He has a major clinical and research focus on the alpha-Gal syndrome, an unusual tick-acquired allergy to mammalian meat that was first described by Dr. Thomas Platts-Mills and colleagues at UVA in 2009. Dr. Wilson has been involved in DoD and NIH-sponsored studies to characterize the regional prevalence and natural history of the α-Gal syndrome and to understand risk factors for developing IgE to alpha-gal. He has also published seminal studies linking IgE to alpha-gal and other food allergens with cardiovascular disease.
